The article offers a critical analysis of the impact digital technologies on higher education. authors discuss digitalization education in relation to broader sociocultural and political economic challenges: globalization, commercialization, socio-economic inequality, ethical issues technology application. Using this approach, demonstrate that first all, rapid during pandemic has activated some existing tension points problematic trends: ‘McDonaldization’ education, managerialism governance, consumerist attitude learning, development elite model, etc. Secondly, introduced new risks related growing influence global companies, online modes commodification divide as factor educational challenges. If these are not timely addressed, it may jeopardize creative self-organization educators students, hinder diverse ethically responsible practices use, further make system unbalanced more dependent commercial companies. To mitigate risks, recommend academic community scrutinize principles ideas currently guiding technologies. Furthermore, should take proactive stance how work, which pedagogical inform their design.
